Empowering Communities: Livelihood Initiatives at Joywing Foundation
At Joywing Foundation, our mission goes beyond providing nutritious millet-based products to children through Project Aahar. We are deeply committed to enhancing the livelihoods of women and farmers, contributing to sustainable community development. Here’s how we are making a difference:
Empowering Women
1. Job Creation in Our Manufacturing Units
We create job opportunities in our own manufacturing units, where we produce millet bars and cookies. These units employ members of women self-help groups approved by the government, as well as other community members. This initiative not only provides a source of income but also empowers women by giving them financial independence and a platform to contribute economically.
2. Supporting Micro-Industries
We encourage and support women to set up their own micro-industries. Joywing Foundation assists these entrepreneurs by purchasing their products and distributing them under Project Aahar. This initiative not only provides a steady income for these women but also promotes sustainable livelihoods.
3. Government Collaboration
The government aims to promote self-help groups, and we actively collaborate with them to achieve this goal. By contacting and working with these groups, we provide two types of support: offering jobs in our industries set up by Joywing and assisting in establishing their own industries.
Supporting Farmers
1. Promoting Biofortified Seeds
We distribute zinc-rich wheat and iron-rich pearl millet biofortified seeds to farmers with HarvestPlus. These crops offer essential nutrients, improving immune function and reducing anemia. Farmers benefit from higher yields, increased market demand, and better prices due to the superior nutritional quality. By adopting biofortified crops, farmers enhance their income while contributing to the community’s health and nutrition.
2. Direct Purchase from Farmers
We buy raw materials directly from farmers, ensuring they receive fair prices and helping improve their livelihoods. By promoting the growth of these nutrient-rich crops, we support sustainable agricultural practices.
